With the guidance of my professor, Charity Robinson, I created and produced my interview style podcast called Glory Isn’t Always Gold. I spotlight athletes that didn’t take the next step in their athletic career.
This podcast was inspired by my own love for and experiences within the sport of gymnastics. I wanted to create a space for athletes who, in one way or another, faced hurdles, tough decisions, and unexpected turning points similar to those I experienced, and who found themselves redefining what success looks like.
As a retired gymnast of 15 years, yes, I know what it feels like to dedicate your life to a sport and eventually close that chapter. We’re all familiar with sports legends, but what about the athletes that spent hours in training with them?
Maybe you didn’t play professionally, maybe you suffered an injury and your biggest dreams were ripped away, or maybe you decided to redirect yourself. Join me, Devon, as I unpack the stories of individuals who deserve to have their voice and athletic journey honored.
I’m incredibly honored that Apple Podcasts recognized my trailer in the Best New Trailers category and to be submitted to the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.
