TCU v. Alcorn State Men’s Basketball

(2024-2025 Season)

TCU and Alcorn State kick off tipoff with a solid start and both teams are playing very forward. Alcorn State is forcefully running the ball down the court through TCU’s defense, using good foot work to combat their passes, while TCU is showing off their 3-pointers, scoring a total of 21 in the first half. 

Alcorn State is proving to be a strong contender for TCU through their passing, defensive techniques, and team chemistry. In the first half, Alcorn State had 9 turnovers, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists. Bravehawk, Daniel Braster, #23, is currently leading the team with a total of 5 points scored and 3 rebounds in the first half

TCU put up a fight against Alcorn State leading 39-22 at the end of the first half, with 9 turnovers, 18 rebounds, and 11 assists. Horned Frog, Brendan Wenzel, #0, carried his team with a total of 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in the first half. 

Entering the second half of the game, both the Horned Frogs and the Bravehawks possess strong man-to-man defense.

The Horned Frogs regain their confidence and control of the ball, only experiencing 2 turnovers in the second half, but forcing 9 on Alcorn State. 

The Bravehawks continue to stride through TCU’s defense, with an addition of 22 rebounds and 5 assists, progressing from their performance in the first half. 

As the game comes to a close we see both the Horned Frogs and the Braves push their way to the net with passion and a purpose, leaving the final score at 71-48, TCU.

Although the Horned Frogs took another victory tonight Trazarie White says that the chemistry is always building, but right now they are in a little bit of a rusty spot, so moving forward they will absolutely progress.

TCU v. West Virginia Men’s Basketball

(2024-2025 Season)

Tip-off is at 7 p.m. tonight at the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, where the TCU Horned Frogs host the West Virginia Mountaineers. Entering the game, the TCU Horned Frogs hold a record of 11-10, while the West Virginia Mountaineers hold a record of 14-7. 

The Horned Frogs began the first half with a slow pace, trying to gather their momentum against their dominant opponent, the Mountaineers. With the Mountaineers' passionate defense, sharp shooting, and strong team chemistry, the energy between the two teams began to rise. With a field goal percentage of 25% and 5 turnovers within the first five minutes of the game clock, the Horned Frogs decided that they needed to turn it around nearing halftime. 

With a halftime score of 28-29, TCU trailing by only a point, the Horned Frogs proved through their comeback that this is their court tonight. 

Coming into the second half TCU is asserting their dominance, as they don’t let West Virginia secure a basket until the 15:44 timer mark. The physicality and fire behind every play amongst the Horned Frogs and Mountaineers on the court is outstanding. We can see the purpose behind every pass and shot taken here tonight. 

Vasean Allette scored a total of 22 points for the Horned Frogs, more than anyone else on the court tonight. Allette led TCU to victory through his consistency and drive to continue making baskets for his team.

With a final score of 65-60, the TCU Horned Frogs will defeat the West Virginia Mountaineers here at the Schollmaier Arena.

TCU v. CU Boulder Men’s Basketball

(2024-2025 Season)

The Colorado Buffaloes are in Fort Worth, Texas today for a matchup against the TCU Horned Frogs at Schollmaier Arena. Coming into the game TCU holds a record of 10-10 and Colorado holds a record of 9-11. 

At tip off, the Colorado Buffaloes enter with speed and precise shooting, making 4 of 4 baskets at the first timeout. TCU, on the other hand, were 0 of 5 baskets made at this time. Into the first half, we saw Boulder spread the court and have a great sense of locating their teammates to drive the ball up through the paint to secure baskets. With a field goal percentage of 45% at halftime, Boulder was not able to keep up their strong start against TCU’s defensive pressure that disrupted Boulder’s offensive rhythm, limiting their scoring opportunities. The Horned Frogs, who trailed a majority of the first half, warmed up to the pressure of their opponent, forced turnovers, and concluded the first half with a 7 point lead and a score of 34-27. 

Throughout the second half the TCU Horned Frogs continued their lead with a standout performance from David Punch who secured 14 points and put in 83% of the baskets he attempted. The Colorado Buffaloes were hoping to progress from their position at halftime but unfortunately had 9 turnovers. Although they struggled to keep up with TCU offensively, they continued with high energy and purposeful plays, accumulating 30 points during the second half. 

Noah Reynolds, such a glue to the TCU Horned Frogs, secured a total of 11 points, and 6. assists during the game. We are constantly witnessing his ability to communicate with his teammates and adapt to the action of play, recover for his team, and pass to the right person to make the basket. Likewise, Buffaloe Andrej Jakimovski had a total of 13 points, 4 rebounds, and the best field goal and 3-point shooting percentage from Colorado today. Jakimovski is a backbone for the offense and capitalized today.

With a final score of 68-57, the TCU Horned Frogs took down the Colorado Buffaloes. 

TCU v. University of Arizona Football

(2024-2025 Season)

It’s 2 p.m. here at Amon G. Carter Stadium where the TCU Horned Frogs and the Arizona Wildcats are face-to-face. Right out of the gates we see the Horned Frogs display assertiveness, but will the Wildcats match this energy?

After accumulating two touchdowns in the first quarter, TCU is showing that they are a strong contender. The Horned Frogs are exhibiting strong coverage across the field; Bud Clark intercepted Noah Fifita at the 14:54 timer mark, Josh Hoover threw clean and directional passes, and Eric McAlister made a steller reception of 40 yards. 

Although the Wildcats are are getting rejected by TCU’s defensive tactics, they showcased good drive to run the ball and managed to pick up the pace throughout the first quarter. Sam Olsen, taking a stride for his team, received a 51-yard-pass at the 1:17 timer mark. This run lead Arizona to the end zone where they scored their first touchdown at the 0:16 timer mark, bringing the score to 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.  

TCU is possessing solid man-to-man defense throughout the second quarter, but that isn’t stopping Arizona who is looking confident and increasing their receiving yardage to 187 by halftime. At this point in the game, Wildcat Tetairoa McMillan holds the top receiving yards for Arizona with a total of 76 yards. 

Fresh into the third quarter, running back Trent Battle runs in a touchdown for the Horned Frogs, bringing the score to 28-13. We are seeing resilience from the Arizona Wildcats, but they have yet to put more points on the board. 

The Arizona Wildcats are continuing to possess strong and increasing yardage and are fighting to match TCU’s dominancy. With major contributions from JP Richardson, Eric McAlister, and Savion Williams, TCU finishes off the game with a win, 49-28, and continues their winning streak.
